Whit Pennock
Family Minister
|
 |
God called me to ministry at the Leander church in June of 1983. I had no formal Bible
training, but my heart was open to God's leading. The elders at that time encouraged
me to serve because of what they saw in my heart. I praise God for those insightful
men. I served as the youth minister for 15 years and am presently the family minister.
I have a Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas in Fine Arts. I have had the
privilege of attending numerous seminars and classes, which have trained me in the
ministry of the Word and also youth and family ministry and counseling. I presently
serve as a mentor for the juvenile justice system in Williamson County, and at times
am privileged to serve in committees for the Leander ISD.
Ramona, my wife, and I along with other Christians from Leander helped
plant a church in Lebedovka, Russia in June of 1993. The church at Sylvan Hills,
Arkansas and Owen Olbricht watered that church and God has brought tremendous growth.
There are approximately 80 Christians worshipping at the church of our Lord in
Chelyabinsk, Miass, and Octobrieski, Russia.
I am blessed with a wonderful mate, Ramona, and two children, Danielle and Nicholas.
God, my family, and this church family have been my source of strength through 20
years of ministry here. It is by the grace of God I am what I am.

Jared Hobby
Youth Minister
|
 |
My desire has always been to serve God, and I have had many different experiences that have lead me to serve as youth minister here. When I was younger, I wanted to follow my Grandparents to the mission field where they had served for many years. However, God had another plan for me. I now realize that He was leading me into youth ministry. God led me toward working with youth even during my high school years as I learned the powerful influence one can have in the lives of young people, which created a desire to help young people grow in their relationship with God. As a result, I spent time during high school and college working with teenagers through athletics and counseling at summer camp.
In May of 2002 I graduated with a B.S. in Athletic Training from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. The following summer I moved to Loveland, Colorado. While I was in Loveland, God opened a door that allowed me to serve as youth minister for over two years at the Loveland Church of Christ. There I was blessed with the opportunity to attend conferences, build relationships with other youth ministers, and learn more about youth ministry. In August of 2005 I returned to Harding and completed my teaching licensure in May of 2006. During this time God was directing me back to youth ministry. In August 2006 my wife Charissa and I moved to Leander to begin our new work.
All my life God has been with me and given me opportunities to serve Him. Charissa and I have been married since 2002 and have one son, Braden. We are thankful for the opportunity that we have to serve God here.
